Josephine Byrnes

Born December 28, 1966 in Connecticut, USA. Josephine moved to Australia in 1971.

Graduated from NIDA in 1989.

Studied graphic design.

Her accomplishments include a 1993 Green Room Award for Best Actress in a musical for her stage work in "High Society," as well as a Variety Club Best Actress award in 1991 for her work on Australian television.

Came to prominence in the much-lauded ABC mini-series Brides of Christ, in 1991.

In her first year after graduation, landed parts in three mini-series - including Brides of Christ.

She won two Logies in 1992, including the Silver Logie for most outstanding actress on Australian television, and picked up another one a year later.

There have been times when Byrnes has quit acting altogether and done interior design jobs for friends and friends of friends. (Her father, an architect, introduced her to design when she was young). "But each time I finished big job, I wanted to go back to acting, which was really nice. I left going, 'I don't care if I never act again.' And then ..."

Discovered acting when mum took her to see a play when she was 14. "It was kind of one of those moments that you get out of the blue, and I just went: 'That's what I want to do."'
