I was working on TV as a host, and that's when I decided I wanted to get out of hosting and into film acting." Cameron on getting into the entertainment industry: "I started off as a fashon model. Walking home from school. I bumped into an old girlfriend, who happened to be one of he top models around at the time, and I knew her when she was 13 - we were 18 - I didn't even recognize her-- she had all this makeup on, and looked like a grownup woman, I looked like a kid - embarassing. She suggested I do some modeling, sounded like a decent job at the time. I wound up doing it; saw the world for a couple of years, I came home after one of my brothers was hit by a car and in a coma. While I was home I was asked to audition for a childrens TV show, I auditioned and got the role as one of the hosts, it was called Off the Dish, which spun off into my own show, the Cameron Daddo show." Cameron on who he admires: "Film actors that I looked up to - Clint Eastwood is someone I've always loved and I love his career, that he's been able to weave his acting, directing and music, he weaves them together and that's what I want to do too. He's a great model." Cameron on the music he likes: "The music that I grew up with is KISS, AC/DC, Tom Petty - they were my musical heroes, still are actually." Cameron on loving to drive: "I learned to drive when I was 13. So we'd drive around trees, through fields, hang onto the roof. I got arrested on the Interstate in New Jersey, for being on the roof of a vehicle. It didn't go down well with the cops. 75 mph is a bit fast." Cameron on being offered a role in the Anne Of Green Gables movie: "Basically it was an offer from the production. They called me up and asked if I wanted to be involved in it. Which of course, I subsequently found out about the popularity of the Anne stories, the books, the films... and I accepted. It is funny though in this business because I didn't have much time to prepare. Two days after I found out about the job I was flying over to shoot." Cameron's hobbies: "Music. Guitar, piano. Golf. Surfing. And being thoroughly entertained and entertaining my children. And people-watching." Cameron on what he likes: "I love all the Clint Eastwood westerns. Paul Newman movies: Cool Hand Luke. Movies like Jaws, Towering Inferno... Australian movies like Gallipoli, Light Horseman, Mad Max... TV Shows: Couldn't go past the Monkees or the Partridge Family. Lost in Space was fun too." |
