Belinda on people's percetions:
"It's taken me a long time to realise that I shouldn't care how people perceive me. You can damage yourself, I think, by trying to be everything that everyone wants you to be."
Belinda on roles she's attracted to:
"I'm a hard-to-cast actor, in a way. I'm left of centre and I'm attracted to projects that are a little nasty and darker, or political. They are just the things I am naturally drawn to."
Belinda on Corridors Of Power:
"She's formidable, stylish, ambitious, doesn't suffer fools and loves a good root. I'm having a ball playing her, I'm having lots of fun. When you meet her, she's just begun her campaign for the Senate and the election is looming. Through the course of the series she is by Tony's side, battling his battles, as well as fighting her own."
Belinda on politics:
"I'm not a political animal. I take a very vague interest in it from afar, so getting my head around the politics, going to Parliament House and meeting some of the politicians on both sides was a real eye-opener for me."
Belinda on The Matrix sequels:
Larry and Andy (Wachowski) were such lovely men to work for, and it was a huge juggernaut to be a part of. Anyone in their right mind would want to be a part of that, but I have had my turn and they are employing a lot of other Australian actors, so it's their turn now. But, yes, I'm a little sad."
Belinda on her Matrix character being made into an action figure:
"I do have one, and it's on my husband's [Jon Hewitt] desk. I was so thrilled when they made an action figure out of me, because I was on the periphery in the movie, really, and didn't expect that to happen. When it did, I really liked it, but then I took it home and my husband got me out of the packet, and started moving my legs about and I didn't like it then, so I made him stop. My best friend says they got my frown right. I guess it's a bit of fun. My nieces and nephews like playing with me."
Mullet Director David Caesar on Belinda:
“I saw Belinda in a telemovie 10 years ago, and every thing she does is fantastic ...she is an under-utilised resource.” |
