Pia Miranda
Born 15 June 1973
Married Luke Hannigan, lead singer of Australian band 'Lo-tel', in March 2001 in the Elvis Presley chapel in Las Vegas.
Pia was a recurring guest star on Australian shows: "All Saints" & "The Secret Life Of Us"
After enrolling at La Trobe University, Miranda then signed up for a BA with a strong theatre content at Victoria University.
Pia on acting:
"I really fell in love with acting and I just jumped into it, especially at uni. I did a lot of it at school and I'd always really wanted to express myself but when I was at uni, it just kind of took... overtook me and I just knew that I wanted to take it further."
Pia on finding a Hollywood agent:
"It just seemed natural. It seemed with women like the Toni Collettes and the Rachel Griffiths, women like that who have gone over and done such great things. It seems natural that if you have the opportunity to go, of course you're going to go over and give it a go. I try not to plan the future too much. Like, I try not to say, "I have to be in this position at this time" because I think that's dangerous. But I just try and keep my goals short-term and I... Basically, what I want is just to keep doing good work and work that inspires me and work that makes me happy."
Pia on theatre:
"It's a very humbling experience after film. It's more guttural, you have to project to so many more people. I don't really think it's my strongest thing."
Pia on The Glass Menagerie:
"I forgot how hard theatre can be. It is an exhausting and draining play. There is humour there but it's essentially about the sadness of life." |
