Sarah Wynter

Born 15 February 1973 Newcastle, Australia

Wynter attended boarding school in Sydney and arrived in New York City at age 17 to study drama. There she studied with Penny Templeton, appeared in various off-off-Broadway productions & did bit parts on soap operas.

Sarah Wynter received critical praise for her star-turn performance in Bruce Beresford’s Bride of the Wind, a biopic of Alma Mahler, the wife of composer Gustav Mahler opposite Vincent Perez and Jonathan Pryce.

In 2000, she appeared in cable feature Race Against Time opposite Julia Robert's brother Eric Roberts.

Her independent film Coastlines, made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

Sarah had a recurring guest appearance in the pilot of Sex & the City and in another episode two years later, as a character called Elizabeth.

Sarah is dating actor Emmanuel Xuereb, who she worked with on the movie Jerks (2000).

Her grandmother (Joy Cummings) was the first female Lord Mayor in Australia, for 10 years she was Newcastle's Lord Mayor.

Wynter is a huge admirer of fellow Australian Nicole Kidman:
"I don't feel that's Aussie pride. I think she is just having the most awesome career. She is really fearless with her work and I aspire to just get one of her roles. I have met her a couple of times and she is as beautiful as she is on-screen and is a lovely person."

Wynter on her role in '24':
"I'm a potential love interest...I hope. I want to have scenes with him. I want to have kissing, because I think he's quite lovely. He's a really nice, fun person--very cute, and he's the lead, so I want to stick close to him."

Wynter on winning the role in Bride Of The Wind:
"I literally fell to my knees when they called to say I got the part [in 'Bride of the Wind']. It sounds corny, it's almost like 'Lord Jesus' or something. I couldn't believe I had this opportunity given to me. You can get pigeonholed [in Hollywood] pretty quickly as a babe, or the bitch or the wife or the hero's girlfriend. Especially coming off 'The 6th Day' ... to go from this big Schwarzenegger blockbuster to this turn-of-the-century composer's wife is just amazing."

Wynter on her career:
"It's been a really great journey since I left for New York at 17, and I've learned a lot. I've just stuck at acting long enough so that someone had to give me a job at some point!"
